A brief history with some learnings

When I first got online you needed a modem and the Fat Mac was the darling of personal computers. Fat meant 512K of RAM. There was no Internet, though there were limited networks available to academics, the military, computer science majors – using pieces of what would become the Internet.

My first online community was a small subscription-supported conferencing system called the WELL, which stood for Whole Earth ‘Lectronic Link.
