SociALCHEMY
Humans are human. Hooray and Oh Well.
Our behavior doesn’t comply perfectly with many natural laws; it’s not predictable under all circumstances. We’re not collectively logical, and even with advanced Ivy League we do dumb stuff.
Computers and networking don’t correct for our fallibility. The recent crash of the world economy – in spite of “the best and brightest” in management and computer wizardry roles – simply confirms that there are social forces at work that are out of our control.
SociALCHEMY is the term I created to describe my approach to working with humans on the Web. Like historical alchemists, I work to catalyze change. My experience has taught me enough about group behavior that I understand what to do and what not to do to bring about desired social results.
Look for the articles in my blog that are categorized under that term.
Through my SociALCHEMY blogging I note observations and report on methods that improve the effectiveness of socially-driven online work. I explore how communications tools and arrangements can make groups of us smarter and better than the sum of our individual talents?
